How to Prevent a Heart Attack Without Statins
“Over 40 million people worldwide take drugs to lower their cholesterol. But now there’s evidence that the majority of them won’t benefit. ” This comment, aired on ABC’s program, Catalyst, has caused a huge fallout in patients stopping lipid lowering statin medications, with a recent survey showing three out of four doctors have seen patients who’ve stopped or are considering stopping their cholesterol medication. Personally, I am not a fan of statins but I do not endorse the ceasing of any medication without a proper and supervised plan.
So, what can you do to prevent cardiac disease without statins?
Red Rice Protein
I have been trialling a red rice protein in clinic for the last year, and monitoring patient outcomes with testing every 6 to 12 weeks. During this period, all clients total cholesterol as well as LDL reduced within a three month period. This included people who had previously been on statins as well as clients who had just been diagnosed with high cholesterol.
Dosage is 2 caps twice daily and depending on stress levels, treatment takes around 6 months.
