Myo-fascial release is a gentle massage technique that releases pressure and stressors on muscles and related soft tissue. It is a highly effective method of reducing symptoms and when combined with acupuncture it facilitates healing with better results than using acupuncture alone.
Bi lateral or double sided Acupuncture treatment takes more time than one sided but it can be much more effective for resolving systemic issues.
Moxibustion is frequently used alongside Acupuncture for conditions ranging from bronchial asthma to arthritis.
Rarely in the medicine practiced in ancient China were Acupuncture needles inserted without also treating patients with Moxibustion, a therapy which involves the burning of specific herbs at acupuncture points.
In Moxibustion, the leaves of the herb mugwort (Artemesiae Vulgaris) are dried and then burned using one of several methods.
The ‘Moxa Stick’ is the most common form in which Moxibustion can be used to promote healing. Here the dried mugwort is rolled up tightly and wrapped in paper forming a cigar-like stick. The Moxa Stick can be held in one place, rotated in circles, or ‘pecked’ in a motion similar to a sparrow pecking at food over the area of an Acupuncture point. The Practitioner places a finger next to the point being stimulated to maintain a comfortable level of heat.
Gua Sha is performed by rubbing a smooth-edged instrument across the skin. Gua Sha can be used to treat many acute and chronic health problems including colds and flu, fever, headache, indigestion, dizziness, injury and joint pain.
Cupping is a technique using glass cups in which a local suction is created on the skin; this mobilizes blood flow in order to promote healing and may help to reduce pain.
Cosmetic Acupuncture: The initial appointment is 90 minutes & involves a comprehensive consult to ascertain whether the client is a good candidate for the treatment, followed by a full cosmetic treatment. All following appointments are around an hour or slightly over. For most clients, a series of ten weekly treatments is required, although this will change on a case by case basis.
Facial Rejuvenation Cosmetic Acupuncture
For thousands of years the Chinese have been using a medical tradition of Acupuncture and Chinese herbs to enhance their health, well-being & beauty. One aspect of this is a specialised technique called Cosmetic Acupuncture, otherwise known as Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture.
Facial Rejuvenation via Cosmetic Acupuncture is a series of treatments, performed by a Practitioner who is not only qualified in Chinese Medicine, but who has also completed specialised training in Cosmetic Acupuncture.
This technique may help to increase the production of collagen in the skin and decrease fine lines and wrinkles. It can also enhance elastin production to aid skin tone and may strengthen the fine muscles of the face and neck. It can be very useful to eliminate puffy eyes, crows feet, forehead wrinkles and creases around the mouth. It may also reduce any scaring, tighten and tone the over all appearance, leaving your complexion fresh and vibrant.
Facial Rejuvenation via Cosmetic Acupuncture is achieved by a process of specialised massage of the face with Jade tools and gentle application of very fine needles into regions of the face. Due to the strength of the treatments, Acupoints on your body are also needled to help improve any underlying health issues that you may be experiencing. Although gentle to experience, Cosmetic Acupuncture utilises a lot of your body’s resources to rejuvenate your appearance, so is only recommended to be performed on those who are in good health. If the Practitioner feels that your overall health is not strong enough for Facial Rejuvenation Cosmetic Acupuncture, she may suggest a series of standard Acupuncture treatments to improve your wellbeing.
Facial Rejuvenation Cosmetic Acupuncture is usually best performed as a series of 10 treatments, paced at once per week for 10 weeks. This allows enough time for the restructuring of skin cells and re-growth (The dermis renews itself every 30 days) Most clients require the full 10 treatments, although occasionally you may require less or more dependent on your overall health and how much work is required.
You can also choose to have one off treatments of Facial Rejuvenation Cosmetic Acupuncture, to freshen your appearance before special events, or as a special treat.
Generally Facial Rejuvenation is risk and side effect free. Unfortunately however, occasional bruising can occur due to the number of fine blood vessels that populate the skin on the face.
The beneficial effects of Facial Rejuvenation Cosmetic Acupuncture may last between 2-5 years, depending on the individual, with a top up treatment performed every 3-4 months.
